The Autobar 400 Loads Spindle Length Bars (up to 60 Inches Long) from a Tray into a Lathe. It Measures the Bars as it Loads them, and Positions the Bar in the Lathe so the Bar is Ready for an Initial Cut Off or Facing to Square the Front of the Bar. Each Time the Chuck or Collet Closes and Then Opens Again the Autobar 400 will Feed Out (with or without a Turret Stop) Enough of the Bar to Make a Part. While Doing This, the Autobar 400 Screen will List the Number of Parts and the Length of the Bar that Remains. It can also Provide a Count of Total Parts Made and a Pre-Programmed Total Parts Wanted.
When There is not Enough Material to Make Another Part, the Autobar 400 will Pick up a New Bar Off the Tray and Prepare to Load it the Next Time the Chuck or Collet Opens. The Lathe will be Stopped While this New Bar is Being Loaded, and Restarted (without the Operator's Assistance) When the Bar is in Position. Loading the New Bar will Push the Remnant from the Last Bar Out into the Chips. The Autobar 400 will Continue this Cycle until it Runs out of the Material on the Tray, Reaches Total Parts Programmed, or is Turned Off.
The Autobar 400 is a Keypad with a Main Menu with Four Options. The First Two Options are "Run Job": These are Used When You are Ready to Enter the Data and Run a Particular Job. The Third is "Setup": This Tells the Loader Where the Front of the Chuck or Collet is. Every Time you Change the Spindle Nose, You Must Use This Set up Procedure. The Fourth is "Jog": This Allows You to Jog the Head Up and Down, and Jog the Carriage Back and Forth.
